Consent Week: Wen-Do Self-Defence Workshop for Staff and FacultyExport this event to calendar

Tuesday, January 28, 2020 — 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM EST

This workshop is open to women identified and non-binary staff and faculty of all abilities.

Wen-Do focuses on safety and empowerment, preparing women-identified participants to defend themselves both mentally and physically, and giving them the confidence to deal with the diverse types of aggression they are most likely to encounter in real life.

The techniques used are practical and easy to learn, and the learning environment is safe, supportive, and full of positive energy.

This 2-hour workshop will cover the fundamentals of self-defence through a feminist, anti-oppression analysis, the importance of using our voice, body weapons, kicks, blocks, a range of releases, and we will break down stereotypes about gender based violence.

Wen-Do is a registered charity and the oldest self-defence organization in Canada taught by women-identified instructors.

A Wen-Do Workshop for Students will be held on January 28th from 2:00pm - 4:00pm. More information on the student workshop can be found here.
