The Government of Canada has unveiled the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program, worth $70,000 per year over two years.
Named for Sir Frederick Banting, the Canadian Nobel laureate who discovered insulin, the fellowships aim to attract and retain top-tier postdoctoral talent.
The fellowships are jointly offered by: the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). IQC's research interests are most closely aligned with the purview of NSERC.
How to Apply:
Applicants should express their interest in applying for a Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship by directly contacting their proposed IQC faculty supervisor. If there is mutual interest, the applicant should work with his or her proposed faculty supervisor to apply for the fellowship.
Application forms for the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships are expected to be available by mid-August, 2010, and a link will be posted here.
Note: Time is short; the application deadline is Nov. 3, 2010, but applicants are strongly encouraged to begin the application process immediately.
Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada and foreign citizens are eligible to apply to the program.
Without exception, all applicants, in collaboration with their proposed host institutions, will be required to submit a complete electronic application, including referee assessments, via ResearchNet, on or before November 3, 2010.
The federal granting agencies will notify successful applicants of the competition results in late March 2011.
Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships 2010-2011 must be taken up as early as April 11, 2011, and no later than October 1, 2011. All awards are for two years from the date of uptake.
