Laura Mancinska is the latest recipient of the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) Achievement Award.

The $5,000 award is given to a graduate student with an outstanding research contribution.

Laura, a PhD student at IQC, received the award based on her research investigating the local quantum operations and classical communication
framework. The team Laura was working with was looking for a simplified and more structured proof of the original result in [BDF+99], a set of
bipartite product states S (known as domino states). The team obtained a
general framework for quantifying the hardness of state discrimination
by LOCC.

The work of Laura and her colleagues will be useful to others
investigating new techniques used to answer open questions. She studies
under the direction of Debbie Leung and Andrew Childs.
