Deny Hamel, a PhD candidate at the Institute for Quantum Computing, has been awarded the University of Waterloo's  Dean of Science Award for his MSc thesis.

Each year, the award is given in recognition of one outstanding master's thesis from each department within the Faculty of Science. Hamel's thesis, Realization of novel entangled photon sources using periodically-poled materials, was singled out for its relevance, creativity and scientific importance.

The award is the latest in a number of honours Hamel has earned during his studies at IQC, including the prestigious Vanier Graduate Scholarship from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

IQC congratulates Deny, and looks forward to more breakthroughs from this exceptional researcher.
