IQC wins three awards for communications in 2014

The Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) was awarded the Gold CASE District II Accolades Award for NewBit and the Silver for the IQC 2013 Annual Report. This is the second award for the IQC Annual Report; it also won an APEX 2014 Award earlier this year.

NewBit, the IQC newsletter, is published three times a year. The newsletter includes feature articles, published research, award winners and outreach activities. CASE District II awarded the Gold in the Newsletters: Print category. Highlights of judges comments included: “Graphical images are robust and demanding of attention. General consensus was that the creative was terrific. Diagrams were helpful to explaining the content and offered additional info relevant to the piece. Side-bar quips of information was short/concise and very readable. As for the text treatment, the font weight, style and tracking made the piece very readable. This piece stood out amongst a crowded field of entries.”

IQC’s 2013 annual report highlighted research activities from the past year and the theme was illuminating discoveries. CASE awarded the Silver to IQC in the Annual or Institutional Reports: Print category. The judges felt that the Institute for Quantum Computing 2013 Annual Report had a clean, sharp design that connected with the subject matter. They also mentioned the excellent photography and excellent use of short profiles covering the continuum of faculty, students, and alumni. This was the second award for our Annual Report - it also won an APEX Award of Excellence in June in the Annual Reports – Print Over 32 pages category.

In previous years, the IQC annual reports have won other APEX Awards of Excellence as well as three League of American Communications Professionals awards.
