Reel to reel machine

In 2015, 154 audio reels were donated to University of Waterloo's Special Collections & Archives. The reels contain recordings of séances conducted in Kitchener during the 1960s by a mysterious medium named Mr. Thomas Lacey.

Join us at THEMUSEUM for the opening of AFTERLIFE | A Seance Experience, Featuring the Ghost of Thomas Lacey.

The evening will feature a first look at the experience animated by the Ghost of Thomas Lacey, intimate and engaging programming, spirits and refreshments. This event is 19+ with a cash bar.

In this session, participants will be introduced to copyright, and the rights and responsibilities they have when publishing their research. This session includes an introduction to:

  • Copyright and licensing as they apply to publication
  • Your rights as an author and tips on how to keep them
  • Suggestions of helpful resources
  • Questionable publisher practices and how to avoid them
Wednesday, July 31, 2019 — 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM EDT

This session will provide a simple overview of copyright, and the implications it has in your teaching. By the end of this session you will be better prepared to:

  • Use copyright protected works in the classroom, LEARN, or through Course Reserves, and
  • Choose alternate options for using materials, if necessary

Join us for a talk by Pamela Dedman, PhD candidate in Feminist Philosophy at University of Waterloo.

Dedman will discuss the importance of Queer representation in media and social relations, and its role in developing autonomy and identity within the Queer community.

This workshop will provide tips and practical experience on how to write an annotated bibliography and how it can be used as part of the writing process for a literature review or thesis. Strategies for using RefWorks to assist in its creation will also be discussed. A RefWorks account and basic knowledge of/experience with RefWorks is expected. This workshop is targeted at upper-year undergraduate students and graduate students.

You already know about the Matrix Method from Literature Review Part A and have completed one.  Now in Part B, learn to situate your research within the body of existing related scholarship.  Bring your completed matrix and your ideas for how best to organize and present the research so that it meshes with your own contribution to the field.

In this session, participants will be introduced to copyright concepts as they apply to the writing and publication of their thesis on UWSpace. This session will cover:

  • Your copyright responsibilities when writing your thesis
