Improvements to inter-library loans across Ontario universities

Tuesday, April 4, 2017

Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) has launched a pilot program extending the inter-library loan (ILL) period of OCUL items to OCUL patrons. Beginning immediately, University of Waterloo Library users will now be able to borrow OCUL items for up to 6 weeks.  Items from University of Toronto will have a loan period of 5 weeks.

In light of this increased borrowing period, there will be no renewals for OCUL ILL items, and items can now be recalled. Library staff will contact users if their ILL item has been recalled. This will also allow Waterloo users to recall items that have been loaned to other OCUL locations.

ILL loans arriving from non-OCUL locations will still have a 3-week borrowing period, with the possibility of renewals.
