The Library is excited to welcome new and returning students to a fresh academic year! As your partner in anywhere, anytime learning and research, the Library provides the resources and services you need to achieve your goals.
Here are some of the key things you need to know to help you excel this term:
- Your WatCard is your library card! Use it to access and borrow materials from the Library. You can also log in online using your WatIAM credentials to use your library account.
- Study spaces: Whether you’re looking for a quiet spot away from distractions or you need a place to meet for a group project, the Library provides a variety of spaces. Many are drop-in but some require booking ahead. Check out these clickable floor plans of the Dana Porter and Davis Centre libraries to discover what resources are available at which location.
- Have questions? Ask us! If you’re new to navigating a research library and not sure where to start or have a question about specific resources or services, library staff are available to answer your questions in a variety of ways: chat, email, text and in person at our Circulation/reference desks.
- Subject-specific support: If you’re looking for help researching a subject specific to your field of study, the Library has research guides to get you started and librarians available for one-on-one consultations to help with finding and using resources, as well as developing research strategies.
- Get to know the library website: There are many resources accessible from our website beyond our book and journal collections, from hundreds of databases to online tutorials to the Waterloo Digital Library. Get to know what’s available from our website to help you in your learning and research.
Launching new this term! Can’t make it to the Library to pick up a book? You can now select the Student Life Centre as a pickup location when selecting titles through Omni, the Library’s catalogue. You’ll be notified when your book is ready to collect from the new pickup lockers and provided a code for easy access.
