The clippings shown here are from the extensive scrapbooks maintained by YWCA staff in the early years. The clippings outline in detail the wide variety of programmes and activities offered by the YWCA as well as the Y's increasing involvement in community affairs including day care and housing. The increasing activity highlighted the cramped quarters at 84 Frederick Street and by mid-decade it became apparent that expansion was needed.
In 1937, the Kaufman family's close association with the founding and development of the YWCA increased when Mrs. Mary Kaufman decided to donate funds necessary for the cost of a new wing.
