Are there interesting new tools and/or apps emerging that are revolutionizing the work being done by scholars, researchers, and students? This event will convene a variety of information community professionals to talk about the tool or app that they know to be indispensable to either themselves or their community. What does it do? Why is it important? What else do you wish it did? And what does this resource portend for the future?

In this 90 minute webinar, we will discuss what data visualization is, learn different types of visualization and how to choose an effective visualization for a dataset. Last, but not least, we will explore Microsoft Power BI that enables users to create dashboards and interactive reports.

A computer can help people do work, but not if they don't let it. There are many common ways that people get in the way of the help that a computer could give them. One cause is lack of trust: people don't always trust a computer to do the work correctly, so they'd rather do it manually. Another cause is lack of training. They naturally think and work like human beings and not like computers, and they aren't taught how computers' capabilities are different from theirs.

Tuesday, May 15, 2018 — 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM EDT

Pop-up HR aims to provide a better client experience to University employees by setting up at various locations around campus to answer HR questions on-site.
