Our Waterloo Optometry Clinic has moved to the nearby location of 419 Phillip St., Unit C, as of October 21, 2024. This location will be open until late 2026 while the Waterloo Eye Institute is under construction. Our downtown Kitchener location (Health Sciences Optometry Clinic) remains open with no change to service.

Dr. Krista Kelly is working to better understand how amblyopia, or ‘lazy eye’, affects children’s everyday lives, with the goal of developing better treatments.
PhD student Sharon Qiu aims to improve scleral lenses to better treat patients with corneal irregularities. She was one of just two students from across North America who won the prestigious OD/PhD scholarship from the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) Foundation this year. The scholarship was presented at the AAO’s Academy 2023 conference in New Orleans in October.
Dr. William Ngo’s research aims to better understand ocular surface aging and how it influences inflammation. Most researchers working on dry eye disease are investigating treatments, whether eye drops or devices. Ngo is taking a more fundamental approach – he’s working to understand cellular aging at the front of the eye.
The prevalence of dry eye disease (DED) has increased significantly due to prolonged screen time and Mana Monfared, a current PhD in Vision Science student, is dedicated to studying the disease and its effects on eye health.
