The Re-imagining Dementia through the Arts Artwork is now viewable on our website.

In this arts and community-based research project we brought persons with dementia, family members, visual and performance artists, and researchers together in a one-day workshop to explore the implications of the tragedy discourse for persons and families experiencing dementia and work with them to begin to create an alternative discourse.

Working collaboratively, eight visual and poetic expressions were created that reflect what persons with dementia want the world to know about them: despite loss and sadness they are supported by loving networks, embracing life, remaining active and engaged, breaking the silence, and transforming with new possibilities.

Fall 2013 Newsletter is Here!

We are proud to share the PiDC Alliance Fall 2013 Newsletter[PDF]!  In it we share our moments of pride in our Culture Change work from the last several months at each of our four Culture Change Coalitions!

Accessible Version of our newsletters are always available.

Please share widely, help to spread the word about culture change!

Today marks the start of an exciting part of the Discovery phase of the Culture Change process at Yee Hong - Markham.

Multi-lingual volunteers from Yee Hong will begin interviewing staff members at Yee Hong to Discover 'the best of what is' at this Long Term Care home in Markham, Ontario.  Most of the staff at Yee Hong are native Chinese speakers, so volunteers fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and even a Hakka speaker are on hand to confidentially learn from staff members.

Are you a recreation or leisure professional looking to incorporate the principles of Culture Change into your practice?

The Partnerships in Dementia Care Alliance is proud to share information from a day-long intensive workshop created by Co-Principle Investigator Dr. Sherry Dupuis, alongside Jennifer Carson and Dr. Colleen Whyte.

This resource explains the principles of culture change, their link to leisure practice and provides all the information necessary to lead or work through your own workshop with other recreation and leisure professionals.
