At the July meeting of the Yee Hong Culture Change coalition, the group put the final touches on an interview and survey guide for staff at the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric care in Markham.

The group has been working for months on identifying who they would like to target, and how, in order to gather positive stories about what works best at Yee Hong and to build on these strengths to improve dementia care for everyone involved.

Building on strengths

At July's Huron County Culture Change Coalition meeting, the team began to refine the first of three proposed Aspiration statements.  Together, the team worked to write about Huron County's ideal dementia care future as though it is already manifested. Building on already existing strengths identified through a rigourous 'Discovery' process, the team worked cooperatively to create bold, provocative and inspirational aspiration statements that will be used as a guidepost for future planning in dementia care in the region.

The Partnering Together for Change Culture Change Coalition at Bloomington Cove is Dreaming about their future together. Over the last few months, the team has been working on defining their aspiration statements and planning on sharing and gathering feedback on these from the broader Bloomington Cove community.

Soon, the team will finalize their aspiration statements and share them at a joyous event with the whole of the Bloomington Cove Community.  Stay tuned and we'll write about them here.

This past week our Knowledge Translation Specialist, Sacha, had the opportunity to represent the Partnerships in Dementia Care Alliance at the Canadian Knowledge Mobilization Forum meetings in Mississauga.

On behalf of her co-authors, Sacha talked about the ways in which we use the Appreciative Inquiry and participatory research methods in order to affect culture change for everyone involved in the dementia care process.

In the past two months, the Yee Hong Culture Change Coalition has been working hard and moving out of the first phase of the Appreciative Inquiry process, Dawning, and making plans for the second phase, Discovery.

At just over a year old, the Culture Change Coalition has recently welcomed a number of new faces.  We've been working, in the last few months to bring everyone up to speed.

At the Huron County Culture Change Coalition (CCC)-we've spent the last two months finishing our analysis of the positive care stories and experiences within Huron County.

CCC members in Huron County have been very 'hands on' in both the collection and analysis of the data collected from clients, staff members and partners in care of persons living in community in Huron County.
