Peace speech competition

The C. Henry Smith Oratorical Contest was established in 1974 to foster continuing thought and dialogue about peace issues. Each year, Conrad Grebel University College holds a local competition.  The winner from the Conrad Grebel competition sends their speech to the bi-national (Canada and US) level where all Mennonite and Brethren in Christ colleges and universities across Canada and the U.S.

From trauma to healing: The Syrian refugee crisis

Dawn Penner, a specialist in psychology/counseling and war trauma recovery, will speak about her time in Lebanon with Mennonite Central Committee. Over the course of three months, she trained Syrian and Palestinian refugees in trauma healing as a response to violence experienced in the Syrian conflict. A time for discussion and refreshments will follow the talk. Admission is free, with food and drinks provided. Donations are welcome.
