New Book: An Inquirer's Guide to Ethics in AI

AN INQUIRER’S GUIDE TO ETHICS IN AI seamlessly blends moral philosophy and the philosophy of science and technology. The book is accessible to beginners in philosophy or computer science.
It holds an inquirer’s toolbox of theories, concepts, and questions and helps stimulate critical thinking about moral issues. And includes handout on virtue ethics and a video explaining how machine learning
works on a companion website, accessible via QR codes in the book. It also examines the nature of modeling and the assumptions and values that can underpin machine learning. And surveys ethical issues relating to generative AI, including art, deep fakes, and writing. 

Both Matthew S.W. Silk and Ian J. MacDonald graduated from the University of Waterloo's, Philosophy program and work as sessional instructors for the department regularly.
