A Better Here--Writing to Nurture a Better Future: A solarpunk lecture/workshop with Jerri Jereat

Jerri Jerreat, author and Executive Director of the Youth Imagine the Future festival in Kingston, Ontario.
Location
Jerri Jerreat’s vision of solarpunk:
Imagine the place where you live--only better. There’s renewable energy--vertical wind or river turbines-- and biodiversity. Equality, diversity, and justice are at the heart of your community, as people of many cultures work and live together. The food you eat was grown organically nearby: sprouts by your sink, veggies on your patio balcony or in a community garden. You are best friends with a tree near your window. That is solarpunk to me: a better future, grounded in real solutions.
Theme: Can you imagine 15-Minute Neighbourhoods, microgrids from renewable energy with sand batteries, and dancing together outside? Joy.
Also, join us on Tuesday, February 25 from 12:15- 1pm in Hagey Hall 335 for an informal discussion of Jerri’s stories “Lightning in 35--” and “Rules for a Civilization.” Bring your lunch!
