Science@NASA)Join us online as we show you around the night sky during the Perseid Meteor shower

  • Streaming live from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM on WebEx

While the Observatory remains closed due to the pandemic, we are happy to offer a live online program during the peak night of the annual Perseid Meteor shower. We will begin the evening by learning how to use a special map of skies called a planisphere. Afterwards, we will identify some stars, constellations, and planets in the sky, while we wait for the meteors!

Although we are hosting this event remotely, we hope we can make it interactive. You can (optionally) print and make your own planisphere beforehand, and observe the night sky safely from home (no telescope required!). We will also try to respond to live questions.

In the event of bad weather, we will postpone this event to August 12th.

Pre-registration is not required.
