November 8 is World Town Planning Day. On this day every year, planners in over 30 countries celebrate by hosting and engaging in activities to raise awareness of the importance of planning in their communities.

In addition to our regular faculty complement, the School commonly draws on sessional instructors, many of them registered professional planners, to teach courses relating to specific areas of professional expertise and to substitute in case of faculty leaves. Speaker: Luisa Sotomayor PhD, MCIP, RPP

Dr. Luisa Sotomayor is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Environmental Studies at York University, where she is also the Coordinator of the MES Planning Program. Her research and teaching focus on urban inequalities, governance, urban politics, community planning and housing. Luisa holds a PhD and a M.Sc. in Planning from the University of Toronto, and a B.A. in Sociology from the National University of Colombia.

At SOUL 2018, student-generated content, student networking, and social opportunities will be integral parts of the conference experience. Students are invited to apply to present their research, coursework, or extracurricular projects for the Student Presentation Sessions. Deadline for submissions is February 28, 2018.

On February 19 2018, a call for poster presentations at the SOUL 2018 “Poster Playground” will open.

CIP's Planning Student Trust Fund Scholarships (CIP-PSTF) is now accepting applications for its five scholarships and one bursary. Planning students are invited to learn more and apply online before March 15, 2018. Successful recipients will be notified in May and the presentation will take place at our national conference.
