Graduate Student Conference | The Trend Towards Global (Dis)Integration

Keynote speaker: Pierre Lizée | Brock University

In light of recent events such as the Trump Presidency and Brexit, this one day conference will focus on the shift towards global (dis)integration. The conference will include discussions of the relationships between trade and economics, security, and public policy as they contribute to global (dis)integration.

Executive order on 7-nation ban: A statement from the Department of Political Science, University of Waterloo

The Department of Political Science at the University of Waterloo are deeply concerned by the United States government's Executive Order banning travel to the USA for citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries, banning all refugees for 120 days and suspending the arrival of Syrian refugees indefinitely.

Eric Helleiner recognized for "Best Book" at ISA 2016

The department of Political Science is pleased to congratulate Eric Helleiner, whose recent book, "The Forgotten Foundations of Bretton Woods: International Development and the Making of the Postwar Order"(Cornell University Press, 2014) was recognized at ISA 2016 with the Francesco Guicciardini Prize for Best Book in Historical International Relations.

Dr. Bessma Momani Awarded a 2015 Trudeau Fellowship

On September 15 2015, the Trudeau Foundation announced that Professor Bessma Momani, a Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Waterloo, was awarded one of five 2015 Trudeau Foundation Fellowships.

Professor Eric Helleiner named Royal Society of Canada Fellow

The Department of Political Science is very proud that Professor Eric Helleiner, was among the newly-announced fellows of the Royal Society of Canada – people who have been peer-elected as the best in their field.  The fellowship of the Royal Society consists of individuals who have made outstanding contributions in the arts, the humanities, social science, science, and Canadian public life.

William Coleman honoured as University Professor

At Arts convocation, William Coleman of the Department of Political Science received the distinguished title of University Professor. He joins an extraordinary group of only sixteen such title-holders at Waterloo who have been recognized for their “exceptional scholarly achievement and international pre-eminence in a particular field or fields of knowledge.”
