“The State of the Union”

Driven by our analogy with the affine world, where closed subsets correspond to ideals, we have seen a necessary and sufficient condition for an ideal sheaf to define a closed subscheme. We will explore this analogy in more depth and investigate where our intuition from the affine world is helpful and where it might be misleading.
