The PhD Lecturing Requirement is a milestone in our PhD programs. As per the calendar text, “Regular participation in at least 1 departmental seminar is expected and the student must present at least 2 talks in a department seminar”. For a talk to be counted towards this requirement, we require that the seminar talk be advertised as a Pure Math Event, and that it be attended by at least two Pure Mathematics department members who hold a PhD.
If you have given a department seminar talk that can be counted towards this requirement, please fill out this form, to give us the link to the seminar announcement, as well as the names of the two required attendees.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Office of Indigenous Relations.
