“Introduction to sheaves”
To kick off this seminar, we take a look at sheaves, starting with some motivation for why sheaves are important in modern algebraic geometry. Next, we look at an important example: the sheaf of continuous functions from open subsets of a topological space X into R. The next step will be to introduce stalks of a sheaf. If time permits, we will take a look at the constant sheaf and the construction for the pushforward of a sheaf.
