"Introducing Hilbert Schemes of Points"
The Hilbert schemes over a variety X parameterize families of closed embeddings into X and appear frequently in various algebraic geometry constructions. Of particular interest are Hilbert schemes of points, which parameterize finite configurations within a variety. In this talk we will look at the relationship between the Hilbert schemes of n points and the n^th symmetric product, and work through a GIT construction of the Hilbert scheme of n points on the affine plane.
The seminar will meet on Zoom.
