"Crash course on the representation theory of complex semi-simple Lie algebras - Part 2"
Last time, we completely classified the irreducible representations of the Lie algebra Lie(SL2) associated to SL2. This time, we will see how the general procedure for classifying irreducible representations of Lie(SL2) can be naturally extended to any semi-simple Lie algebra. In addition to using the SL2 case as a framework, we will see how explicit results from SL2 are used to understand the representation theory of any semi-simple Lie algebra. Throughout, we will be using SLn as our main example, and will refer to SL3 if need be.
