"Iitaka Dimension"

Given a line bundle L over a variety X there is a standard way to define a function from X into a projective space. An interesting question is therefore to ask what information can be obtained from this map. In this talk we will investigate one answer to this question by considering the dimension of the image of this map. In particular I will define the Iitaka dimension corresponding to a line bundle and show how it relates to the space of global sections. In doing so we will also see how the Kodaira dimension is just a special case of the Iitaka dimension. Any remaining time will be spent sharing other motivation as to why one might be interested in the Iitaka dimension.
