“Complex vector bundles and the Chern classes”
With a sizable inventory of definitions and theorems having been established, we will now be able to introduce Chern classes, the first characteristic classes to be associated to complex vector bundles. Special cases of these classes will be discussed, and simple computations with vector bundles will be demonstrated. Related concepts, such as the complex Grassmannian and Chern numbers, will also be examined.
