"Characterisations of Pseudo-Amenability"

Amenable groups are an important and well-studied class of locally compact groups. A result due to Pham gives a characterisation of these groups, and a weakening of this condition gives rise to these so called pseudo-amenable groups. A natural question to ask is if this new condition is equivalent to amenability, or if it is strictly weaker. This talk will give a characterisation of these pseudo-amenable groups, which is important in proving properties of these groups which mimic well-known results of amenable groups.
