"Symmetry groups of differential Equations Part III - Symmetry of differential equations with examples"

This will be the last of a series of three talks on symmetry groups of DE. In this talk, I will use the tools developed in the second talk, namely, symmetry of algebraic equations, to study differential equations when we view them as algebraic equations in higher jet spaces. I will compute the symmetry group for 1) the heat equation in one dimension and, if time permits, 2) some equations of calibrated geometry.

"The Uniquenes of the Einstein Tensor and its Associated Lagrangian"

Following the works of David Lovelock, we explore the defining properties of the Einstein Field Equations and observe the uniqueness of the Einstein Tensor.  Additionally, the defining properties of the associated Lagrangian are established and the uniqueness is likewise explored.
