“The Kadison-Singer Problem III”
We overview the large-scale structure of the proof of Marcus, Spielman, and Srivastava. In the process we introduce some of the main ideas: mixed determinants, real stable polynomials, and interlacing families. We prove a few of the elementary properties of these objects. The main, new, part of the proof is isolated—its derivation is reserved until next week.
