Learning Seminar on Partition Quantum Groups

Wednesday, June 20, 2018 3:30 pm - 3:30 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Jacob Campbell, Department of Pure Mathematics, University of Waterloo

In the next few meetings we will look at the noncommutative analogue of Haar measure for an operator-algebraic quantum group.  More precisely, we will construct the convolution algebras associated with a compact quantum group and we will outline (following ideas of S. Woronowicz) the proof of existence and uniqueness of an invariant "Haar" state.  We will then use the combinatorial framework established in the previous meetings of the seminar in order to derive a concrete integration formula holding in the case of our main example, the free orthogonal quantum group.
