"Isolated types of finite rank"

Omar Leon Sanchez and I, motivated by our joint work with Jason Bell, have been working on obtaining a geometric-stability theoretic characterisation of isolated types of finite U-rank. The idea is that finite rank types are "coordinatised" by rank 1 types, and so one might expect to understand isolated finite rank types in terms of their relationship (internality, weak orthogonality, etc.) to rank 1 isolated types. I will report on the progress in our attempts to realise this expectation.
