“Positive maps continued”

Continuing the discussion of positive maps from our last meeting, we now discuss how positive maps arise. We shall be mainly concerned with the assumptions about the norm of a map which guarantee that it is positive. The spectral sets for operators will subsequently be introduced and discussed and we will see how the study of these sets leads naturally to the formation of positive maps in operator theory.
