"Free Function Theory and Operator Algebras"
In this talk I will explain the idea of a “free function”, which unlike a classical function is not bound by the shackles of commutativity. Considering such functions is natural and desirable in many areas of mathematics. In particular, I will focus on operator algebras arising from the left creation operators on the Fock space and their associated geometric objects. I hope to show how this theory forms a connection between operator algebras and “noncommutative complex analysis” and how the questions that arise in this theory relate to questions in ring theory, complex geometry and functional analysis.
