“Normal distribution: Some characterization problems in Statistics”
I will talk about the normal distribution, which serves as the main model of randomness in statistics. I will discuss some characteristic properties of the normal distribution. I will show how variations of these properties correspond to other ”normal-like” probability measures. Some of such measures have been used in statistics, while other ”normal-like” measures appeared in noncommutative probability.
