“Overview of higher representation theory”

Classical representation theory studies representations of algebras by linear operators. Higher representation theory is a recent upgrade which studies representations of 2-categories by functors and natural transformations. The origins of this go back to the rapidly developing idea of ”categorification” which led to many new interesting results in algebra and topology. The aim of this talk is to describe the historical development of the theory with emphasis on applications and future challenges.

Refreshments will be served in MC 5046 at 3:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
