“Representations of sl(2;C) and sl(3;C)”
I will develop the basic theory of representations of Lie algebras, and then move on to the important special cases of the Lie algebras sl(2;C) and sl(3;C) of traceless complex matrices. These nicely illustrate the general semisimple strategy, and will moreover play a key role in what follows. Time permitting, I will perhaps discuss some geometric interpretations.
