“Moments of L-functions”

Moments of L-functions is an important subject in analytic number theory with applications to other topics. For instance, the moment of the Riemann zeta function is closely related to the dis- tribution of primes in short intervals. However, the behavior of high moments remains mysterious. Recently there has been great progress in our understanding. Good conjectures and bounds on the behavior of moments of L-functions appeared in the literature. In this talk, we will provide background on L-functions, development of moments of L-functions, including results on high moments of some families of L-functions from my joint works with X. Li, and connections with random matrix theory.
