Graph Algebras Seminar

Ehsaan Hossain, Department of Pure Mathematics, University of Waterloo

“Classification of simple graph algebras”

Abstract

Student Number Theory Seminar

Shuntaro Yamagishi, Department of Pure Math, University of Waterloo

“Diophantine equations in the primes”

In their paper ”Diophantine equations in the primes”, Cook and Magyar give a condition for a system of polynomials to be soluble in primes via the Hardy-Littlewood circle method. I would like to describe their method.

Computability Learning Seminar

Mohammad Mahmoud, Department of Pure Mathematics, University of Waterloo

“Ramsey’s Theorem”

We have seen with Sam two proofs of Ramsey’s Theorem. This time we give a third proof of that uses Konig’s Lemma but can be carried out in RCA0.

Graph Algebras Seminar

Sam Harris, Department of Pure Mathematics, University of Waterloo

K1 of a C*-algebra”

Having defined K0 of a C*-algebra, we now define K1 as well as provide examples and basic properties.

Wednesday, June 3, 2015 1:30 pm - 1:30 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Geometry Working Seminar

Anton Borissov, Pure Math Department, University of Waterloo

“Divisors on Toric Varieties”

Toric Varieties are geometric objects that are described by combinatorial data. Their description allows one to compute many geometrical quantities in a straightforward fashion. In this talk we will define toric varieties and work towards describing the global sections of line bundles on them.
