The University of Waterloo community gathers in June and October each year to celebrate the awarding of degrees at convocation. Faculty, staff, students, and their families get together for this very special event. Honorary degrees are also presented at these ceremonies.
Visit the Graduate Studies website for ceremony date & time information.
Ceremonies are held in the main gymnasium of the Physical Activities Complex at the University of Waterloo, 200 University Avenue West, Waterloo. Ceremonies begin at 10:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Note: Each convocation ceremony usually lasts approximately 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours. Small children may find it difficult to sit through the whole ceremony.
On campus parking is free in selected lots (look for signs). You can also visit the Parking website for more information. Free parking on the days when convocation ceremonies are held will be posted one to two weeks prior to the start of the spring and fall convocation ceremonies. This information is expected to appear under "Events."
Permits aren't required for convocation guests and every effort will be made to direct guests to parking areas as close as possible to the site of the ceremony. Parking is not available close to the building. Drop off guests with mobility concerns at the ground floor level door located beside the steps to the red south entrance of the Physical Activities Complex.
