The University of Waterloo has a strong commitment to increasing equity, diversity, inclusion and supporting decolonization, Indigenization and reconciliation in all facets of its operations and to remove barriers to achieving an equitable academic, research and campus environment. In support of this goal, and in alignment with the Inclusive Research Implementation Strategy 2022-2025, the Research Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (REDI) Council provides strategic advice to the Inclusive Research Team in the office of the Vice President, Research and International (VPRI) on ways to meaningfully embed equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) strategies into the research ecosystem at the University of Waterloo.
REDI Council consists of representatives from all Faculties at Waterloo, bringing together diverse lived experiences and inclusive research expertise. The REDI Council provides strategic advice including but not limited to, directions and objectives for the Inclusive Research Team, ways to support faculty members in embedding EDI into their research and team environment, and the Canada Research Chair Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan and associated projects, and are invited to share information about EDI initiatives taking place in the Faculties.
