Professor Oliver Schneider, an Engineering faculty member in Management Sciences and a RoboHub collaborator, has recently been awarded $250,000 under the New Frontiers in Research Fund 2020 Exploration program, which brings researchers from different disciplines together to pursue high-risk, high-reward research projects.
Under this program, Schneider is leading research on the development of virtual reality environments and interfaces that are guided by social justice so the voices of people in marginalized communities can be heard. As the RoboHub's main haptics and virtual reality expert, Schneider and his lab are very well placed to contribute breakthrough results to this critically important field.
Five other projects, including three more led by Waterloo Engineering professors, were also awarded similar grants across campus as part of this NFRF cycle. Click here for the full story.
