See the Space

RoboHub's presence on campus is rooted in our state-of-the-art robotics research, testing, and training facility, located in the atrium between Engineering 5 & 7 at the University of Waterloo.

This facility, often simply called "The RoboHub", is surrounded on three sides by floor-to-ceiling windows looking out on gathering spaces in the atrium, providing a showcase of active robotics research for visiting scholars, industry partners, students, and the public.

Check out a spherical video tour of RoboHub's facility, where you can control the point of view by dragging the video around.

This facility includes a high-precision indoor positioning system, a powered gantry spanning the entire room, theatrical lighting capabilities, electrically switchable privacy glass, a 2x3 metre in-floor magnetic levitation system, and many environmental and safety features to enable research, testing, and training in a wide variety of real and simulated environments.

Our dedicated control centre, network infrastructure, and shared software licenses also facilitate extensive visualization and telemetry display both within the space and for remote observers, as well as providing off-board computational resources and network infrastructure for the distribution of algorithm execution.

When combined with our globally unique fleet of fixed-base, wheeled, humanoid, aerial, and magnetically levitated robots, this unique facility enables numerous avenues of multidisciplinary research to explore the potential of these combined robotic technologies, including the operation of richly heterogeneous robot teams within complex real-world environments.
