SEED is hiring a Lecturer in Experiential Learning in Sustainability

The School of Environment, Enterprise and Development (SEED), in the Faculty of Environment, University of Waterloo, invites applications for a three-year definite-term Lecturer appointment, with the possibility of renewal as a Continuing Lecturer, with expertise that combines sustainability and business. Candidates for this Lecturer position should have completed a Masters and/or PhD degree by the commencement of employment, and should demonstrate the potential for high-quality teaching. The salary range for this position at the rank of Lecturer is $70,000 to $90,000 per annum. 

Applicants must demonstrate excellence in teaching, combined with deep expertise in one or more areas of sustainability. The candidate should have taught university courses as the instructor of record, and have mentoring experience with undergraduate and/or graduate students. The successful candidate will be appointed as a regular member of the Faculty and will be expected to teach up to 6 courses annually. Courses to be taught include undergraduate and graduate level courses, both online and in-class, and will be based on the needs of SEED and the candidate’s interests and expertise. In particular, the successful candidate will be expected to lead an experiential learning capstone project course for senior undergraduate students in the Environment and Business program. The successful candidate will help identify potential projects, secure clients’ participation, manage administrative requirements, and facilitate and oversee student projects and group communications with the client, to maximize learning outcomes and ensure project quality. Additionally, the successful candidate would be expected to teach course material related, but not limited, to working in teams,  project management, communications, and research design, with emphasis on both hard- and soft-skill development. There is an expectation that the successful candidate may periodically teach international block courses. There is also an opportunity for service commitments related to curriculum planning and student engagement.
