Overview

Please join us for the University of Waterloo's third annual Eco-Summit, entitled "Building Networks."  This event will celebrate our sustainability progress over the past year, with a particular emphasis on the connections that are continuing to strengthen Waterloo's momentum.

Hosted by Sustainable Campus Initiative and the Sustainability Coordinator, this event will bring together students, staff, and faculty to form new partnerships, celebrate successes, and be inspired.

Keynote: Mike Morrice, Founder and Executive Director of Sustainability CoLab. 

Closing comments: Ian Rowlands, Professor, School of Environment, Resources, and Sustainability; Interim Associate-Vice President, International.

Keynote Bio

Mike Morrice Headshot
Mike Morrice is Founder & Executive Director of Sustainability CoLab, which supports a network of non-profits building the low-carbon economy in communities across Ontario. Mike founded Sustainable Waterloo Region in 2008, was named an Ashoka Fellow in 2012, is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, has been selected by The Waterloo Region Record as one of Waterloo Region’s inaugural 40 Under 40, and was recognized as Young Alumnus of the Year and Young Entrepreneur of the Year by WLU’s Alumni Association and the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce, respectively.

Mike will share the story of Sustainable Waterloo Region and Sustainability CoLab, with a particular emphasis on the impact of network-building and partnerships.
