Celebrating our biggest Bike Fair yet
On Thursday, June 20, the Sustainability Office held the 2024 Bike Fair in the Peter Russell Rock Garden. Between 11am and 2pm, over 300 students, staff, faculty, and community members had the opportunity to connect with the 15+ campus and community cycling partners. Attendees could also enjoy a free ice cream and bike tune-up.
A special thank you to the partners who withstood the heat: Athletics and Recreation, WUSA Bike Centre, Bike Mayor, City of Waterloo, Neuron, Peer Health Education, TravelWise/Region of Waterloo, Water Cycles, Waterloo Cycling Club, Special Constable Services, Sustainable Transportation, and CycleWR, as well as King Street Cycles and Red Raccoon Bike Rescue for offering free tune-ups!
In addition to Bike Fair, the Sustainability Office also collaborated with Water Cycles Expeditions on a guided bike ride on June 22. This free ride was open to campus and community members of all riding-levels and led attendees along the Grand River. The Sustainability Office also tagged nearly 1,000 bikes with a small “thank you for cycling” card throughout the month.
Thank you to everyone who participated in Bike Month this June. To connect with sustainable travel resources available throughout the year, visit the Sustainability Office Transportation webpage.
