Sustainability Engagement Assistant

Kylie McBurney supports initiatives that increase student engagement with campus sustainability. She actively participates in programs like Green Residence and the Student Leadership Certificate. Additionally, she creates content for the Sustainability Office, sharing it through various communication channels such as social media, newsletters, and articles. This content highlights stories, programs, and events that celebrate and promote sustainability across campus.

Kylie’s engagement and communication experience comes from her work with United Way Waterloo Region Communities, where she supported fundraising and marketing efforts for a non-profit organization. She is also a third-year Environment and Business Student, where she has developed a strong understanding of sustainable development and green marketing strategies.

Kylie remains actively involved with local sustainability initiatives including:

  • Volunteering at community clean-ups and tree planting events
  • Fundraising for environmental organizations like World Wildlife Fund and the Toronto Zoo Nature Conservancy
  • Serving as the former VP of Marketing for the Waterloo Environment and Business Society.
