UWB Permit
The UW Business (UWB) permit supports employee and departmental mobility across campus and allows holders to park in any unreserved space within open (ungated) lots, excluding Lot M. Permit holders are also eligible to park in Lot D.

Permits allow parking in any unreserved parking space within open (ungated) lots across campus, excluding Lot M. Permits also allow parking in Lot D, pending availability.

The cost per permit excludes tax and is aligned with the published employee monthly permit rate.

All permit requests must be submitted by the department head or an authorized designate.

A valid unit - 4 account number is required to process permit requests. UWB permits are billed to the department via monthly invoice at the published rate.

To cancel a permit, authorised individuals must email Sustainable Transportation. Billing will continue until a formal cancellation request is received in writing and processed.

Permits are valid for up to three years from the date of issuance.

Fines for misuse are the responsibility of the individual employee who incurred the infraction - NOT the department/unit. Repeat infractions may result in towing of the vehicle or revocation of the permit.
Types of permit
Two types of permits are available: individual permits and departmental operations permits.
Individual

The UWB permit is tied to the employee ROLE, not the employee.

Maximum one permit per eligible employee.
- The permit is registered to the employee’s personal vehicle(s) and must be displayed at all times.
- The employee must also hold and display a valid ‘home’ lot permit i.e. X, Q,B ,A etc.
Department
- Maximum four permits per department, with potential for additional permits as approved by Sustainable Transportation.
- Permits are transferable, and departments are responsible for coordinating permit release and usage.

Permits are intended for periodic use in response to a specific departmental need on a given day. They are not designed for daily or recurring use by employees and should not be used as a substitute for regular parking arrangements.

Eligibility is based on the individual or department’s need to:
- Respond to emergencies or urgent issues
- Support operational activities in multiple locations
- Transport materials
- Facilitate contractor/vendor access
Apply for UWB permit
Authrorised individuals (individuals with budget oversight) are asked to complete the online authenticated form. A uwaterloo userid is requried to access the form. A valid Unit 4 account/work order number will be required. Permits will not be issued without this information.
