BME Student has won the CEMF Regional ambassador scholarship for Ontario.

Sophie Stupalo, second year Biomedical Engineering student, has won the prestigious Canadian Engineering Memorial Foundation (CEMF) regional ambassador scholarship for Ontario.

The award, valued at $5,000, honours young women in undergraduate engineering programs in five regions across Canada for their leadership and volunteer work.

Sophie on her own initiative, creativity, resourcefulness, and determination, has persuaded the Athletics Committee to allow her to launch the first recognized lacrosse club in the university’s history. Sophie’s personal goal is to have UW Athletics support a high-performance women’s lacrosse team eligible to compete in Ontario Universities Athletic events.
