An algorithmic trading system makes investment decisions, sends instructions to exchanges, and has profit (or loss) at the end of the day, all without human intervention. In this talk, you’ll learn how a computer could make investment decisions — and pick up some useful industry jargon along the way.

Farbod Yadegarian is currently a lead on HRT’s Algorithm Development Team. Algo Developers are responsible for researching and building HRT's predictive models and trading strategies. Farbod has served as a mentor for HRT’s Women in Trading and Technology Internship, and HRT’s Summer Internship Program. Farbod is a University of Waterloo alumnus.
Jack Lee is a former HRT intern, and he joined full-time as a software engineer in August after graduating from the University of Waterloo. He now supports HRT's high frequency trading teams, working on everything from research tooling to live trading deployment.
Junyi Wang is a recent Waterloo graduate, now serving as a software engineer at HRT. His team builds and monitors the technology that facilitates our trades. Junyi currently works on building tools used by every team at HRT.
Joseph Martinez is a Campus Recruiter on Hudson River Trading’s Talent Attraction Team. He has spent five years building relationships with universities across North America and Europe, in search of the best talent in quant and tech. He currently serves as HRT’s Campus Recruiter for the University of Waterloo.
