Marie Law Adams - Landing Studio

Marie Law Adams is a co-founder of Landing Studio and Associate Professor of Architecture at Northeastern University. Landing Studio was formed in 2005 with the Rock Chapel Marine project, a shared-use road salt terminal and public park in an industrial neighborhood of Boston. While working in this community during their first decade of practice, Landing Studio studied salt production facilities across the globe and learned how seemingly standardized spaces of production and infrastructure could be shaped by local places and people. This understanding serves as a foundation for their ongoing work to bring local voices, new dimensions of human delight and comfort, and natural systems to infrastructural spaces. The work of Landing Studio has received honors such as the Architectural League’s Emerging Voices award, the Architectural League Prize, a Holcim Award, and a Progressive Architecture Award. Marie earned her MArch from MIT and is a registered architect.

Kelly Alvarez Doran - Mass Design Group

Kelly is the Senior Director of Sustainability and Regenerative Design with Mass Design Group. He supports Principals and Designers to embed performance & provenance objectives into all MASS projects, as well leading climate-focused research and the training of our entire team.

Kelly holds professorships at The Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment and at the University of Toronto where his Ha/f Research Studio is focused on the whole life carbon of the built environment. The outcomes of this research informed the development of embodied carbon policy regulation with the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.

Kelly is a past recipient of the Canada Council’s Prix de Rome for Emerging Practitioners, the Irving Grossman Prize for innovation in housing design, and both the AIA and RAIC medals. He has previously held teaching positions at the University of Waterloo, Università Iuav di Venezia, and Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design.

Elena Tudela - Office of Urban Resilience

Elena Tudela holds a degree in Architecture from the Facultad de Arquitectura at UNAM, a master’s degree in Architecture in Urban Design from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University, and she is a PhD Candidate in Architecture at UNAM. She coordinated the urban design of Hydric Park Quebradora in Iztapalapa, Mexico City, that received the 2017 Regional Gold award, and the 2018 Global Gold from Lafarge Holcim Sustainable Awards. She is an associate professor at the Facultad de Arquitectura UNAM, and co-founder of the Office of Urban Resilience ORU, recently awarded Emerging Voice for the Architectural League of NY 2023. She co-curated Mexico’s National Pavilion “Displacements” at the 17th Architecture International Exhibition Biennale di Venezia 2021. She is a member of the Advisory Council for Public Space, and the Resilience Council of Mexico City, and is part of the National System of Art Creators for Mexico’s Ministry of Culture.

Quan is the newly appointed Emerging Practitioner at Waterloo Architecture. A licensed architect and educator and Senior Architect at SvN Architects + Planners, he founded Never Only Architecture Inc. in 2022, a Toronto-based studio that strives to develop innovative architectural responses through socially, environmentally, and technologically informed design. His practice builds on ten years of experience working on high-profile conceptual and built work across North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. His interests and expertise in practice and academia span from the scale of community planning and engagement to the detail and materiality of interiors and furniture design.
